I know I have a separate blog for F1 rants, but Ralf Schumacher not racing for the rest of the season (or for most of it at least)?! A fractured spine?!?! I knew that crash was ugly! And everyone was saying he just suffered a couple of bruises... HAH! Stupid, simple-minded fools! Oh, and by the way, yesterday was his 30th birthday! Ah... the cruelty of fate.
Sneak
I'm stealing a few minutes, maybe an hour, away from studying. I've been trying to catch up on my reading, but I'm afraid my mind likes to wander off every 5 minutes. I have, therefore, decided to give it a break and surf the net for a while.
Hah! Actually, I've been trying to log-on to UVLE all day, but it's been down all day as well. Hmmm... I need my slides! I need notes! The books are too extensive; I need the condensed version or else I'll reach system overload causing a shutdown and probably several months to reboot! The horror!!! Hehe
Got myself a Gmail account by the way. I've been hearing a lot of good stuff about it, so might as well, right? Wonder what I'm gonna do with 1GB of mail space... 2GB actually, since I signed up at Spymac as well. *shrugs* I'm an email slut, so sue me. *grins*
Well, gotta go and waste my time on something else!
Finally!!!
At long last, I have finished my paper! Ah... sleep here I come. *sleepy gaze towards bedroom*
Never thought I would get past June 25th, 12nn, but what do you know! I'm still alive! Not unscathed, though. A series of not so unexpected but still unexpected events happened. Woke up at 8:30am, and then it dawned on me that my first class starts, surprise surprise, at 8:30am! Ah well, what's important is that I managed to pass the cursed paper. Hope that all the crap I put in there would be enough to earn myself a nice, shiny, much-coveted 3 in the class card.
Progress Report
*cranks neck*
*cracks knuckles*
*yawns and stretches*
*bangs shin against computer table*
Ouch!
*winces in pain*
Well, I've been working non-stop since yesterday afternoon. I stayed up until three in the morning, putting things together. Woke up at around 9am and basically marched back to the PC. *sigh* Not even halfway done yet. There are so many things to include, not to mention I'm having a very hard time finding synonyms for extremely technical words, or at least words used in a technical context. Take the term 'increase' for example. (Did I just say 'term?' Arrgh! Somebody shoot me now.) I mean, in how many ways can one say 'increase the current' or 'an increase in torque?' I swear, I am so tired... No, let me rephrase. My body seems to be well-rested, but I think my mind is too saturated. After this, I don't think I'll be able to look at another motor/generator without contempt flashing in my eyes and obvious disdain distorting my pleasant (don't object) features.
Anyway, my progress for the day includes: a decent introduction (check), an overview on DC Machines (check), and the configurations of DC Motors (check). I'm nearly finished with DC motors actually. Just have to paraphrase a couple of paragraphs on motor controllers, add some pics, and then I'm done! Well, it doesn't sound much, but you try going over all those evil equations over and over and over again!!! *huffs* I'm at a loss on Industrial Applications though. It says here in the requirements that I'm gonna need the specifications of motors used in elevators, conveyor belts, forklifts (?), cranes (?!), cement mixers (wtf?!?!), and the like. *sneers at paper* HAH! In what universe am I ever gonna get my hands on those??? Companies don't just divulge their technology, you know! ARRGGHHH!!!
Reads aloud: For this section of your report, you are expected to go look for these motors 'in person...'
*quirks eyebrow* Hmm... I wonder if he really thinks this is possible, or if he's just giving us a really hard time.
Ah, enough talk. Have to get back to work now.
Dreams
I've been having a lot of weird dreams lately. Last Friday, my brother suggested that we go see Dawn of the Dead, but we didn't because my sister and I were too tired. That night I dreamt that the whole family was planning to see Dawn of the Dead, and then my friends started coming over to my house! There was this old guy, as well, although I'm quite sure that I've never seen him before in my life. Anyway, he died, and we still decided to go watch the movie. In the movie house, in the middle of the movie, people suddenly started bursting, and blood was spattering everywhere! There were times when I was part of the movie, and times when I was just watching. Anyway, I got to the climax and everything was 'solved' although what we solved is beyond me. I woke up after the odd conclusion.
Last night I had two dreams. In one, I had chickenpox, and my skin was so ugly, and I had spots all over! I finally woke up around 1am when alarm clocks in the room started going off. Anyway, second dream was about me and my family. We were driving really fast along EDSA, and then there was this very, very, very deep excavation in the middle of the road. There were no barricades placed, so our car pretty much plummeted through... Down, down, down... Everything was pitch black when I finally got out of the car. And then I found a light switch. And then I saw that my family was dead. And then I woke up again. *sigh of relief*
They're too dark and disturbing. I wonder if they mean anything...
Sem-opener
Well, I'm taking 20 units this sem. I guess it's sort of a punishment for failing one subject last sem, getting a grade of 4 in another, and then dropping another one during summer. *sigh* Stupid school. I'm really beginning to think that I'm going to regret doing this. Exam schedules aren't out yet, so I have no idea how to prioritize, yet. One thing's for sure though, lab would have to wait.
Writing
I don't know if I've mentioned it, but I've been writing again recently. Great timing, I know. hmph. My writer's block's completely gone, and it's so frustrating that I have to put school first before all else. Uni work is getting in the way of my creativity!!! I have to satisfy the writer in me! The whole story's in my head, not to mention another one on the rise. Stupid muse. I must have the weirdest muse ever, coming out when least expected (and wanted). Oh well...
Harry Potter 3
The most bizarre thing happened. As circumstances would have it, I saw Harry Potter 4 days in a row last week (on its release date). I'm not complaining, really. I didn't have to pay for two of those anyway. *grins* It's really an improvement compared to the first two. Even with the shuffling of events, (and the unavoidable omission of others) I didn't feel the movie lacking. I actually thought it was a bit clever.
The first two were a bit more faithful to the book, but see what it did? HP1 was too choppy. Bad editing... And HP2 was a bit tiring because it was so long. If the director had stayed true to the book version of HP3, then 4 hours later, I would have been wailing, "when does the hurting stooooop?!" Hehehe
Anyway, point is, I wasn't disappointed.
