Plugging
Yaya Kathy told me to put some commenting thingies on my blog. With lack of anything better to do and because of this overwhelming feeling of boredom, I decided to install the comments anyway, even though I only know of three or four people who read this. Haloscan was down, so I decided to go for enetation instead. It works fine. Now I just need people to comment! Haha! So guys! Tell me what you think about me! Am I annoying? Am I too weird? Do you hate me? All comments accepted! I can delete stuff anyway! Hahaha!
I just got home around 20 minutes ago. I watched Mano Po, a local film which is an entry to the Manila Film Festival. It was okay, I guess... Sure, I laughed in some of the dramatic parts, and I thought the acting of some were lame (particularly Cogie Domingo and Kris Aquino), and I found a couple of other things irritating, but I would say that it was worth the Php 60.00.
hahaha! Teacher Tin! No problem! BoB's still occupying my time anyway.
Bastogne
Incomiiiiiing!!!! *boom! boom!* Get in your foxholes!!! Stay in your foxholes!!! *ka-boom!* MEDIIIIIIIIIIC!!!
Muck and Penkala to Luz: Come on! Come on! *boom!* (shell hits Muck and Penkala's foxhole. Luz quickly heads for Lipton's instead)
Luz to Lipton: Muck and Penkala got hiiiit!!!
Lip: Whaaaat?
Luz: Muck and Penkala got hiiiiit!!! *thud* (dud shell hits Luz and Lip's foxhole) Silence.
Me: ...amazing... now where's that cute medic Eugene Roe?
Hahaha! I'm just kidding. Of course I didn't say that! Well... Maybe I did, but that was after I got over the initial shock and that was during my fifth viewing of the episode! Hehe... Don't worry. I'm bound to get tired of BoB someday!
Ronald Speirs: We're all scared. You hid in that ditch because you think there's still hope. But Blithe, the only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function. Without mercy. Without compassion. Without remorse. All war depends on it.
Wish Granted
Yesterday, I bought myself something that would guarantee me around 10+ hours of good, clean, wholesome fun... Any idea what I'm talking about? Of course you do!!! I just bought myself a Band of Brothers box set! It burned quite a big hole in my pocket, but it was quickly patched when my mom handed over to me my ninang's Christmas and birthday money--er... gift! Mwehehehe... I live!!! I've been watching it with my siblings and enjoying it immensely. I do think that I won't ever get tired of watching it. And it's not just because of Speirs! (ah... you were wondering when that name would pop up!) There's actually this very interesting medic named Eugene Roe, and almost all the men in Easy Company don't look half bad... Haha! I'm just kidding! Of course I don't just watch it for the men. There's really something about it that almost makes me wish that I was there fighting with them. Almost.
Corrections
I just realized that I've been typing Speirs's name the wrong way, interchanging the 'e' and 'i'. tsktsktsk... I haven't done him justice! Sacrilege! Haha! Anyway, I've just corrected everything, and I promise I won't do it again! Maybe I should just start calling him Ronald... NAH!!!
Rest
Ah... The three big days are finally over. Celebrated my mom and dad's anniversary on the 23rd, went to my lola's house (mother's side) on the 24th for Noche Buena, and had another celebration on the 25th, this time with my relatives on my father's side.
I kind of expected the Noche Buena to be wild and wacky, just as it always has been, what with my lola encouraging the youngsters to perform song and dance numbers all the time. I know what you're thinking, and yes, I, myself, went through that torture and humiliation. I even choreographed this dance that my siblings and I performed back in 1997 (5 years ago... *gasp* I'm getting old!), but let's not get into that! Hehe. That was the last time I ever did that... Anyway! Amazingly enough, this year, there was not a single performance. Nada. Zilch. And my lola didn't even care! Probably because she was all dressed up, waiting expectantly for her "crush" -- her gay doctor. Of course, she refuses to admit that he's gay. I don't think she could bear it, but I wish she would just stop with this silly fixation. It would spare us all the embarrassment, believe me. Okay, back to what I was saying... The kids got away with the humiliation this time, and they probably will again in the years to come. Frankly, I think the Santillan celebration is going a bit downhill, at least until all the cute little ones (there are about 5 of them) grow up. So what did we do? Well, after the gift-giving, all the uncles gathered together at one spot and continued with their beer, and my cousins all gathered around and started mixing some Gin Pomelo. I had a glass myself--okay... the glass wasn't exactly full, and I sort of sloshed it around a bit so that some would casually spill on the floor, and I sort of asked my brother's help in finishing it----OKAY!!!! Fine!!! I had maybe 5 sips, but what can I say? It really was not my type. Anyway, that's pretty much it. I spent the night replying to all those Christmas text messages my friends sent me. Thankies everyone!!!
While the Santillan celebration wasn't much, the Martinez one just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Ate Donna was the host as usual, and she kept making these annual whatevers and traditions, like this thing that I'm supposed to be the one leading the opening prayer each year. RUBBISH!!! I complied anyway. And then there's this "annual Christmas toast" supposedly always led by Tito Pors. *rolls eyes* Yeah right! Hahaha! It was very funny though. And then, Ate Donna goes something like, "And now, may I call on the Christmas elves -- Audrey, Glenn, and Chrissa!" What the---??? If I'm a Christmas elf, then Ate Donna must be Santa Clause himself! Er... herself. Hehehe. And then there was the raffle. Probably one of the biggest ones we've ever had. We always collect money from everyone, and then we split it three ways for three rounds of raffling. This year, we collected around Php 2216.00, which made it Php 516-- for the first round, Php 700-- for the second round, and Php 1000-- for the third round! I didn't win though... almost had it, too!!! *sticks out lower lip and pouts* Oh well, I'll get them next year!!! Woohoo!
By the way, I've already collected enough to buy myself a Band of Brothers box set! Ah... Finally! Lt. Ronald Speirs! It won't be long... Hehehe. Many, many, many thanks to WOWOW for showing the mini-series every 9:30 am. Mmm... Now I'll have my daily dose of BoB for a while. *drools* hehe
Addendum
I almost forgot... my brother (kuya Ryan) bought a Playstation2!!! Awright!!! He's been stuck to it since Sunday, but I've managed to sneak during the nights and have a go at the oh-so famous Final Fantasy X. *grins* I missed my RPGs!!! I just love playing them so much! FFX's a lot better than VIII, too, but I still have this special attachment to VII, which, in my opinion, is still the best. Still looking forward to finishing FFX, though!
OH!! OH!! And guess what kuya Ryan got Ate Auds?!?! A 1:24 Ferrari F1-2000 model!!! She has yet to assemble it though, and the tools are really expensive, but I'm sure she'll assemble it somehow. As for me, I'll just wait for someone *hint hint! teacher tin!!!* to buy and HP deskjet printer, and then I'll go beg him/her for the free WilliamsBMW F1 scale model, also 1:24!!! Mwehehe...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! HAPPY BIRHTDAY, HAPPY BIRTHDAAAAAAAAYYYYY... HAP-PY BIRTH-DAAAYYYY TOOOOOO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to everyone who greeted me!!! You all made my day! *grins from ear to ear*
oh yeah... MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Party No.1 - Por-ep
I just came home from two Christmas parties, both enjoyable in their own way. The first one was a sort of reunion for the 'pilot class' (i.e. 4F--the mentally deficient but certainly not intellectually incapacitated albeit a wee bit eccentric class that I belonged to back in high school). I arrived early enough to excuse my early exit later on, and in the hopes that I would get to mingle with my old friends, but it turns out that almost all got stuck in traffic and arrived around 7:30 to 8 pm. I left around 9:30, and I tell you, 2 hours just wasn't enough. I haven't seen these people (apart from my really close friends) since last year's Christmas party!!! I really hated to have to leave early... Damn everyone for setting everything on the 21st!
I left right after that ultra-weird exchange gift... Yeah... guess what I walked away with ----- not one, not three, but two freakin' Tagalog Romance novels! The pair originally belonged to Carlo, and I was laughing at him for his bad luck, but in the end, they made everyone pass their gifts to the person to their left, and I ended up with those ultra-corny books. And what about Carlo? *snicker* He ended up with a pack of Modess Sanitary Napkins! Hahaha!!! I left the party with him, because both of us had to drop by Jill's (my kabarkada) house, and we couldn't help but laugh at our strange luck.
Party No.2 - Barkada
We arrived at Jill's house around 10:00 pm, and it turns out they were actually waiting for our arrival. Why? Because they wanted us to watch the footage of Jill's debut back in July wherein most of us participated in the cotillion. Believe me, I didn't expect that. I thought we were just gonna hang out and chill, and when I found out, I couldn't help but point out, "Jill! The reason why we arrived late was so that you could watch it without me!" That was Carlo's plan, too, but I guess my friends were just too 'kind' and decided to wait for us.
We watched the video anyway, and thank God I didn't look as stupid as I feared. It was a bit weird watching myself dance, be it Swing or Waltz... I'm just glad that none of my mistakes were caught on tape. Hehehe... I have to admit that we all looked cute, even! In retrospect, I had lots of fun practicing for that debut. Too bad we're all old now and cotillions won't be necessary anymore. Jill says she'll have one on her wedding, though... Riiiigggghhhttt.... Hahaha!!!
Ah... I love the Christmas Season. This has been a really nice day, and I'm glad I got to attend both parties. Hope that next year, these two won't coincide anymore so that I would get to spend more time on both ends!
Spread the Love
Here's the summary at the back of one of those Tagalog Romance novels, Ikaw ang Hanap ng Puso Ko by Maureen Apilado
Patawid si Monica sa kalsada. Huli na nang mapansin niya ang humahagibis na sasakyan.
Ngunit may lalaking nagligtas sa kanya, si Red. Bumaling siya rito para pasalamatan ito.
And their eyes met... She felt her stomach tighten. Her heart beat faster.
At si Red, daig pa nito ang naengkanto. And he knew, for the first time in his life, he was in love.
Pag-ibig na nakatakdang mabigo, dahil si Monica ay ikakasal na kay Vic, ang kapatid ni Red.
Mwahahaha!!! Rough trans: Red saves Monica's life just as she was about to get run over by some vehicle, and voila! *sings Kylie Minogue song* It was love... at first sight!!! But alas! This love was not meant to be, because Monica was already engaged to Vic, Red's brother. *rolls eyes* This is bound to be entertaining... Good for reading while in the bathroom! Heeheehee!!!
Christmas Break
Finally, the dreaded weekend has come and gone. I have made it through the first wave of exams!!! How did I do? Let's see... uh... let's just say that I'm glad everything's over, and that I won't have to worry about anything this Christmas Break. I can now freely bum around the house without the thought of unfinished problem sets and upcoming exams nagging me at the back of my head. I only had about 2-3 hours of sleep last night, because I was up studying for EEE23! Did it pay off in the end? Nope. Sad isn't it? There was one annoying T/F question that went: "I love EEE23." *rolls eyes* rrrriiiiiiggghhhtt... What did they expect students to say?! Though most people encircled TRUE, I highly doubt that they weren't doing it out of pure sarcasm. I encircled FALSE of course, because I was a bit dizzy, I had dark rings under my eyes, and I was still absolutely clueless! I swear, if they consider that as a wrong answer, I will make them pay...
Shopping
Aaarrrggghhh!!! Haven't done any Christmas shopping yet!!! Stupid exams! Thanks a lot for taking away all my free time! hmph.
8 days to go 'til Christmas! Yay! Merry Christmas, everyone!
Passenger Seat
Stephen Speaks
I look at her and have to smile
As we go driving for a while
Her hair blowing in the open window of my car and
As we go, the traffic lights
I watch them glimmer in her eyes
In the darkness of the evening
Refrain:
And I've got all that I need
Right here in the passenger seat
Oh and I can't keep my eyes on the road
Knowing that she's inches from me
We stop to get something to drink
My mind clouds and I can't think
Scared to death to say I love her
When the moon peeps from the clouds
I hear my heartbeat it's so loud
Try to tell her simply, that
Refrain(2x)
Oh and I know
This love grows...
Refrain
Oh and I've got all that I need
(I look at her and have to smile
As we go driving for a while)
Right here in the passenger seat
(Her hair blowing in the open window of my car and)
Oh and I can't keep my eyes on the road
(As we go I see the lights
I watch them glimmer in her eyes)
Knowing that she's inches from me
(In the darkness of the evening)

Manual Labor
I initially couldn't find lyrics for Passenger Seat online, so I decided to do it manually. And then I realized that it was all for nothing! Visit their website, and you'll see that they have lyrics to all of their songs posted there. It also seems like they're planning to do concerts here in Manila!!! Hurray!!! The dates are Feb. 5, 7, and 8. I'll be looking forward to that.
Kimi
I bought an F1 magazine for my sister yesterday, mainly because there was an article on Kimi Raikkonen there. I didn't mind so much that it was a wee bit expensive. Christmas is near after all, and my sister's birthday is on January, so I figured that the magazine could serve as a dual-purpose gift for her! Hehe. The whole thing "backfired" though. She ended up not liking his character at all, and all of a sudden she likes Jenson Button more than Kimi now. Oh well... At least I can now freely lay claim on Kimi! Mwahahaha!!! Never mind that he sounded a bit too self-confident. I doubt if the writer didn't have anything to do with it, anyway. The way he wrote it, I could only think that either he a.) has some kind of weird hero-worship for Kimi that he just absolutely loves his, to use his own words, "coolness", or b.) was extremely annoyed with Kimi's cryptic responses that he couldn't make anything more of it other than plain obnoxiousness. I do admit that the article was a bit disappointing. He looked so wholesome back when he was in Sauber. Could it be that Ron Dennis makes androids out of his drivers?! Haha! Oh well, I don't just watch F1 for Kimi, you know... There's still Jenson and Nick and Jacques and who knows who else might come up? Guys like Andre Lotterer are probably hiding in the pits or something. Hehehe. Hear that, Kimi?! You can take your Miss Scandinavia 2000 fiancee and die---t! You're still welcome in the Philippines, though! Hehehe.
Chrissameters
I've now finished half of my EEE33 problem set, done my lab report, done a bit of ES11, and brushed up a bit on matrices. All in all, I'm proud to say that this day would merit an 8 in the Chrissa Productivity Scale with 10 being the highest! Yesterday was a 7, and the other day was a 4.5. I therefore conclude that I become more productive as the deadline approaches, thus proving that cramming is actually effective!
However!!! If I have to rate the level of saturation of my brain, it would be a 10+ in the Chrissa Brain Saturation Scale, 10 being the highest of course. According to the description of a level 10+ Brain Saturation, and I quote, "The individual may experience occassional lapses in concentration, mild halluscinations, acute logical thinking disorder, and dementia." I therefore negate my above conclusion, and conclude that cramming is indeed not good for your health.
Ah... I must apologize for my behavior. I tend to do that sometimes. No, not inventing meters, I meant suddenly spouting nonsense! Hehe... I'm really worn out right now. It's amazing how much effort thinking requires. And I'm not just talking about my brain, but I also feel like I could sleep for hours and hours, and I forget things easily, and... Hey! What do you know?! I am just talking about my brain! Hahahaha!!!
F1 Talk
It's been a while since I've talked about F1. The team Arrows are out, and although they're still appealing to the FIA, chances of them racing in the 2003 season are slim. I think Arrows should back down. It's for their own good anyway. Stupid Tom Walkinshaw still owes a bunch of money to who knows how many people.
It seems everything's going well for McLaren, though. Kimi, DC, and Alex Wurz are doing really well in testing, and setting really fast times. Williams is doing good too, of course. *smiles cheekily* JPM, although not as fast as Kimi (hehehe), is not far behind. Ralf started testing the other day, and I wish he'd pick up his pace and beat JPM. Then again, this is all just testing anyway! Stats don't matter!
Aaaagggghhh!!! Why is March so far away?!
Well, I have to go now. Band of Brothers is coming up! Heehee! Lt. Speirs!!!
First and foremost, CONGRATULATIONS TO NIKKI for winning in the Philippine Web Awards for her personal site, Skylight. You rock, girl!!!
Wednesday
I love Wednesdays. Thanks to UP, I have a break in the middle of the week. It's around 11 am now, and I'm taking a break from my early studying. Amazingly, I understood what I was reading about vectors and force fields and electrical intensity and stuff, but I've decided to take it slow, and give the information some time to sink in.
It's such a nice day today. Perfect for sleeping in... Gah! What am I thinking?! You've got to study, you fool! All right... I can do this. It's all in the mind! I will get something done by the end of the day! I will be productive!!! Mwahahaha!!!
Lieutenant Speirs
Ever watched Band of Brothers on HBO? Lt. Speirs is sooooo cool! He's the best, and I swear, if he dies, I'll be crying buckets! Dammit. Should've watched Band of Brothers way back when it premiered.
Oh well, this has been a useless post. How sad. Better have lunch now!
Oh. And I think it was Oscar Wilde who said, "I can resist anything but temptation."
